Creative Ideas to Excite Customers while Increasing Profits

By: John Fountain, Syndicate Sales West Coast Regional Manager

There are many creative and benevolent ways to increase your shop’s sales. All it takes is a little effort and networking. Team up with a local or national charity or organization. Promote your store with advertisements letting your customers know that with each arrangement sold, 10% of their sale will be donated to the local charity or organization.

Every retail florist’s goal is to maintain year-round business. Think outside the box of the traditional sales period when customers are driven to your door due to the timing of a particular holiday. Use your imagination to touch the emotions of your customers in order to stimulate sales and, subsequently, increasing profits.

National Societies are a great way to promote product because of their recognition. For example, develop a Red Hat Society Vase Arrangement. Work with the national organization to help advertise as well as to choose a charitable cause to support. The United Way and Red Cross are also well known organizations that might be able to work with your shop to promote their causes. Also, think of local organizations that would be willing to team up with your shop for a win-win marketing situation– the possibilities are endless.

Local sports teams and stadiums might also want to promote activities and team spirit with your shop. How about a bud vase adorned with a hang tag printed with the team’s logo along with a two or three stem arrangement? In addition to “Bat Day” the franchise could advertise a “Kids Night” at the ball park. The first 100 kids receive a vase with flowers for their moms and a visit to the team’s locker room to meet the players, get autographs and take pictures. Co-sponsor this with the team in order to promote your shops name.

These ideas don’t end at organizations. What if you were to team with a jewelry store to use your vase and flowers as a way of delivering a new piece of jewelry? Wrap or hang the jewelry around the vase arrangement and use an enclosure card to promote your company as well as the jewelry store.

Thinking outside the box can separate you from your competitors, promote local and national organizations and businesses and increase your top and bottom line.

Cost Effective Valentine Vases Make an Impressive Statement
By: Danielle Messersmith, eNews Editor

Valentine’s Day is the busiest holiday in the floral industry and offers an array of colorful and creative arrangement opportunities. This year, Syndicate Sales is offering a wide selection of holiday vases that are affordable and look great. With these vases, retailers can use more fresh flowers and creative designs while keeping the price point for the customer reasonable.

For a big wow factor, try designing an arrangement full of roses, lilies and astromeria in our Classic Tradition 10 3/8” Rose Vase (No. 4041-06-09). This vase is elegant and makes a classy, powerful statement. The design of the vase is meant to impress and imitate higher end cut crystal vases. This is an excellent option for customers who want a high quality arrangement at a reasonable price.

Smaller bud vases are at the low price point, but don’t have to look inexpensive. Take our 7 ½” Square Bud Vase Assortment that comes in clear and frosted glass (No. 3366-24-245). The bud vases are fun and modern–-gerbera daisies will really compliment the vase’s design while still being affordable.

Another option for customers is to offer a non-traditional Valentine’s arrangement full of fresh flowers that look like a natural, just picked bouquet. Our clear glass 7 1/8” Serenity Vase’s (No. 4115-06-09) short, round design is an excellent match for this type of arrangement, good looking arrangement that is a sure best-seller.

For attractive and affordable plastic containers that add color to the holiday, try designing in our 9 ¾” Pedestal Vases (No 89). The container comes in four festive colors: translucent ruby and red, pink and white pearl. Match each container accordingly to your arrangement and you have an affordable, yet good looking arrangement to offer customers.
